TikTok LIVE battles: how they work and how to help win
Updated: 21/10/2026
A TikTok LIVE battle (PK or LIVE Match) puts two creators, or two pairs, against each other for 5 minutes, and whoever scores more points wins. According to TikTok's official guide, every coin sent in gifts is worth 1 point and every Like is worth 3, with a maximum of 3 points per viewer per battle. To help your creator win, three things matter: gifts, when you send them and the power-ups their top gifters earn.
Quick summary
- Length: 5 minutes, 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 (TikTok guide, 26/04/2024).
- Points: 1 coin = 1 point; 1 Like = 3 points (maximum 3 per viewer per battle).
- Afterwards: a 3-minute victory lap and a possible rematch.
- Power-ups: Boosting Glove, Magic Mist, Time Maker and Stun Hammer; the winner's top 3 gifters can get them.
- Pack to support: 10,000 coins for $79 = 10,000 points.
What is a battle on TikTok LIVE?
It is a co-host feature in which two creators connected live compete over a round. TikTok calls it PK LIVE Match ("Player Knockout"). Creator A invites creator B, who has 5 seconds to accept, and the countdown starts. While it runs, each screen shows a scoreboard with each side's points, and viewers in both streams push with gifts and Likes.
There are variations: TikTok also describes 2 vs 2 formats with several hosts. The basic mechanic is the same: the side with more points when time runs out wins.
How are points counted in a battle?
| Action | Points |
|---|---|
| 1 Like | 3 (maximum 3 per viewer per battle, and for one creator only) |
| Rose (1 coin) | 1 |
| Galaxy (1,000 coins) | 1,000 |
| Diamond Gun (5,000 coins) | 5,000 |
| Interstellar (10,000 coins) | 10,000 |
| Lion (29,999 coins) | 29,999 |

Because every coin is a point, sending 10 Galaxies or one Interstellar adds up to the same score. What changes is the impact on screen and, with a Boosting Glove active, the number of chances to multiply (each gift has its own chance). The Like is free, but it only adds 3 points per person for the whole battle.
What happens when the battle ends?
When the 5 minutes are up, a 3-minute victory lap begins, during which the winner can set a fun penalty for the loser (pull a face, eat a lemon…), always by mutual agreement. If it is a draw, or during the victory lap, both creators can tap Rematch to start another round.
What are power-ups and how do you get them?
| Power-up | What it does | When TikTok suggests using it |
|---|---|---|
| Boosting Glove | For 30 s, each gift has a 30% chance of being worth x5 | At the start or when behind; not during a speed challenge |
| Magic Mist | Hides your points from the opponent for 30 s | In the last 30 seconds |
| Time Maker | Adds 10 s to the battle; maximum 3 per battle | Near the end, or all three at the start |
| Stun Hammer | Funny effects in the opponent's room for 30 s | During the victory lap |

When a creator wins a battle in which at least one gift was sent, their top 3 gifters have a chance to get a random power-up. It is stored in the backpack (Gift Panel > backpack icon), expires after 5 days and can only be used in the same creator's streams. If it shows in grey, you are trying to send it to a different creator.
How do you help your creator win a battle with gifts?
- Save ammo for the end. The last seconds decide many battles; sending then, with a Magic Mist active, leaves the opponent no time to react.
- Use the Glove when lots of gifts are coming. Each gift has its own chance of x5, so it pays off more with several gifts in a row than with a single one. TikTok advises against using it during the "doubles" of a speed challenge, because multipliers do not stack, and suggests activating it right after.
- Tap Like. That is 3 free points per person; in a close battle, they count.
- Coordinate with the rest of the audience. Agreeing in the chat on when to send stops everyone spending at once at the start.
- Aim for the top 3. The winner's biggest gifters can get power-ups for the next battle.

Does the creator earn money for winning a battle?
What a creator gets paid comes from gifts, which TikTok turns into Diamonds; the official battle guides we cite do not describe a cash prize for winning. On top of that, TikTok's Rewards Policy, as summarised by ReelShift (16/10/2026), weighs several factors besides Diamonds, such as LIVE duration, new followers, engagement, days live and league or ranking. We explain it in TikTok diamonds to USD. Remember that a gift cannot be refunded, even if the battle is lost.
Which pack works best for supporting in battles?
| CoinTok pack | Price | Support points | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 coins | $49 | 5,000 (5 Galaxies) | — |
| 10,000 coins | $79 | 10,000 (1 Interstellar or 10 Galaxies) | Diamond Gun |
| 25,000 coins | $164 | 25,000 (25 Galaxies) | Black Bear + Treasure Chest |

For the odd battle, the 10,000-coin pack ($79, ≈ £59) covers 10 Galaxies, a good gift rhythm with the Glove active, or one Interstellar for the final second. If you back your creator in several battles a week, the 25,000 pack ($164) gives you room for several rounds.
