Why Can't I Buy TikTok Coins? Common Errors and How to Fix Them

If TikTok won't let you buy coins, the cause is usually one of five things: you're under 18, the feature isn't available in your country, the app store or your bank is declining the payment, the purchase is waiting for parental approval, or your account is restricted from buying coins. TikTok Help notes that coins and gifts "aren't currently available everywhere" and that you must be at least 18 (19 in South Korea). Each error and its fix is below.

Quick summary

  • Age: under 18 means no coin purchases. There is no legitimate way around it.
  • Country: if you don't see "Recharge" or tiktok.com/coin won't load, it may not be available where you are.
  • Payment: most failures come from Google Play, the App Store or your bank, not TikTok.
  • Account: TikTok can block purchases after rule breaches or reversed payments.

Why won't TikTok let me buy coins?

Because buying coins has requirements you only notice when they fail. Under TikTok's Virtual Items Policy (last updated 22/01/2026), only registered users who are at least 18, or the age of majority where they live, can buy coins. In-app purchases also go through Google Play, the App Store or Amazon Appstore, and the official website only works in some countries. If any of those pieces breaks, the buy button doesn't show up or the payment gets declined.

Why can't I buy coins with Google Play or the App Store?

In the app, the store takes the payment, so declines usually start there. The usual suspects: the saved payment method has expired, your bank blocks digital or international purchases, your Google Play country doesn't match your payment method, or a family setting requires approval for every purchase.

Try this, in order:

  1. Open Google Play or your Apple Account settings and check the payment method is valid.
  2. Make a small test purchase in another app to see whether the issue is the store.
  3. If you use parental controls, approve the purchase from the parent's device.
  4. If the bank declines the charge, allow it in your banking app or use store balance from a gift card.

Keep in mind that TikTok's policy says that if a payment fails, is returned or stays unpaid, it may suspend your account or your access to Virtual Items. Don't keep retrying a method that errors out.

How do you report a coin purchase problem to TikTok?

In the app: Profile → menu → Settings and privacy → Report a problem, then pick the coins or recharge category. For Google Play purchases, TikTok handles requests through that channel; for Apple purchases, claims and refunds go through Apple. Have the date, amount and transaction ID ready.

If your problem is sending gifts during a LIVE rather than buying coins, see how to send gifts on TikTok LIVE.

Is there another way to get coins if the app won't take my payment?

Yes, if the block comes from the payment method or the store. With CoinTok you don't go through Google Play or the App Store: pick a pack, enter your @username and pay with crypto (USDT, BTC, ETH). The coins land in your TikTok balance and you never share your password.

What no seller can fix: if you're under 18, or if TikTok has restricted your account from using coins and gifts, that has to be resolved first. Buying from a third party isn't backed by TikTok, whose policy says coins are bought from TikTok; CoinTok is an independent service and is not affiliated with TikTok.

For the official recharge process step by step, see how to recharge TikTok coins. If you're ready, go to the CoinTok coin packs.

FAQ

Usually because the account is listed as under 18 or because coins aren't available in your country. TikTok says coins and gifts aren't available everywhere. Update the app and check Profile, Settings and privacy, Balance; if the option still isn't there, the feature isn't active for your account.

The decline almost always comes from the store or the bank: an expired payment method, no funds, online or international purchases blocked, or a country mismatch between your store account and your payment method. Check the method in Google Play or the App Store and try store balance instead.

No. TikTok's policy requires you to be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy coins and send gifts. Changing your date of birth to get around the limit breaks the rules and can lead to account restrictions.

Yes. Its policy lets it suspend access to coins or coin purchases if it believes the rules were broken, and suspend the account if a payment fails or is reversed. If you see a restriction notice, check it in the app and contact TikTok through Report a problem.
